Volunteers

Many of our members work hard to make Firebrands a successful club, and the club could not run without its volunteers. Other than through the provision of professional coaching the club is managed and governed on a voluntary basis by its members. So we would like to say a big thank you for all your ongoing help. There are a number of volunteering positions up for grabs in 2011/2012:

Team managers – do you watch your child, other half, or friends play and want to help? If so you could be a team manager. Team managers help organise and co-ordinate the players (and sometimes the coaches), making sure they turn up in the right place, at the right time, with the right bits of paperwork.

Coaches and helpers – are you an aspiring or existing coach and would like to get involved in working with adults or juniors? If so we would love to hear from you whether it is to take a lead or a supporting role. We are also looking for parent helpers in the junior section as extra pairs of eyes and encouraging voices are invaluable.

Events & Maintenance – are you handy with a paintbrush, have green fingers or just wield a mean bin bag? Want to help out but don’t want to make a regular commitment? Well throughout the year the club needs a bit of TLC and support; and as the saying goes many hands makes light work. If this is something you think you could help with then please let us know.

Sponsors & Fund Raisers – do you work for, or own a company that might want to sponsor the club? We have a range of packages from small adverts in the programme to whole club sponsorship, something for every budget. Or do you have the gift of the gab or an idea and would like to help the club raise funds?

Umpiring – hockey relies on people to pick up that whistle and officiate. Fancy trying your hand at being the person with the power? If so there are plenty of opportunities to become an umpire as well as support and training at Firebrands.

If you have skill or willingness to help then please contact: Rich Major, the Firebrands Volunteer Co-Ordinator on richardwmajor@gmail.com or 07850 181366

All volunteers must sign a volunteer agreement which you can download below and if the volunteer is 18 or over then they must undertake a CRB check, which the club funds.
