| I can’t begin to describe
how distressing your illness has been to so many people. Just how many
people’s lives you have not only touched, but influenced most profoundly.
How often I have thought of you over the last few months, reflecting on
te impact tat you had on my life. It was because of you I joined Firebrands
and through the club that you carried for so many years, forged so many
friendships not least the one between you and I.
I miss not seeing you at the club, asking for the Embers scores and smiling
when I’m not among them! I miss not being able to call you for a
chat and general moan about the world/the tories/ how selfish people are
/ cricket / hockey / etc…
I know you like to joke that you were just “that fat bloke in goal”
but we all know better. You were also the bloke who used to send me off,
argued about smoked salmon socialists, made Firebrands the great club
it is today and most importantly of all, were a friend to me in a way
I will never forget. |
